Established in 2008, Gen Collective is a community-driven organisation dedicated to creating opportunities for lasting connections and collaboration.
Through events, workshops and conferences, our aim is for you to grow your network, enrich your career, and find friendships to support and enhance your personal and professional life.
Our history
Gen Collective began as genXwomen network and was founded in 2008 by Melanie Hamilton (Director of local accounting firm, Hamilton Taggart Business Advisors).
Our inaugural networking event drew over 80 attendees and featured guest speaker Lauren Miller-Cilento, CEO of HMMG Pty Limited. Mel reached out to Lauren by email, and she was willing to come to Newcastle right off the bat!
Our rebranding to Gen Collective in 2016 marked a commitment to inclusivity and growth, embracing a wider range of professionals of all ages and genders.
For today’s members, our history represents a legacy of building a warm, supportive community where meaningful connections and professional development are at the heart of everything we do.
Our events
Gen Collective provides access to a diverse range of professional and personal development opportunities through an annual series of speaker events, workshops and social events.
It was important to create a network to enable opportunities to form relationships and friendships with like-minded people, particularly at the beginning of their business ventures and careers.
These relationships have grown with members, and it is not unusual to see connections between members of the network still strong many years later.
