Building your leadership portfolio. Why leadership is about more than a title.

Seek to love, not to be loved. Live, look and serve beyond yourself.

What a wonderful conversation about leadership, growth, purpose and the importance of staying true to who you are.

Our panel reminded us that great leadership isn't defined by a title, a qualification or how far you've climbed the career ladder. It's about knowing your values, finding your purpose and creating an environment where people feel they belong, are heard and can bring their best selves to the table.

One of the strongest messages of the conversation was the importance of connection, authenticity and leading with empathy. Build genuine relationships before you need them. Be transparent, consistent and kind. Bring people with you, recognise their brilliance and help them understand how their work contributes to something bigger.

As Viv so beautifully reminded us, finding your true north means knowing what you stand for, because fitting in should never mean giving up who you are.

We also explored the courage it takes to back yourself. Monica worded it so perfectly: “See the brilliance in yourself before expecting others to see it.” Step outside your comfort zone, be relentless in your self-belief and remember that sometimes commitment, curiosity and the willingness to learn can take you further than qualifications alone. And perhaps one of the most powerful reminders: If the role exists, why can't it be you?

Kim offered another perspective on career growth that really resonated. We're often so focused on the next step up, the promotion, the bigger title or the added responsibility, that we forget there's value in moving sideways too. A lateral move can open the door to new experiences, different skills and a better understanding of what you enjoy, what you're good at and the kind of leader you want to be. Career growth doesn't always have to mean climbing higher. Sometimes it's about exploring a different direction.

Looking ahead, Kimberley spoke about the role of technology and AI in reshaping how we work, and the importance of holding onto what makes us human. Empathy, honesty, integrity, authenticity and genuine connection are things we should never sacrifice for efficiency. Leadership is about service, doing what you say you'll do, looking beyond yourself and recognising the influence you have on others.

And if there was one message to take away, it was this: Don't wait for the title, the promotion or someone's permission to lead. Lead with purpose, believe in yourself, stay human and look for opportunities to lift others along the way.

Thank you to our wonderful panellists for sharing their wisdom, experiences and honest reflections, and to everyone who joined us for such a meaningful conversation.

And remember, let your love loose.
