Pause. Breathe. Shift. Export. Choose.

Our May Event - Conversations That Matter presented by Bernadette Smyth - explored a powerful idea: sometimes life doesn’t feel hard because we’re incapable - sometimes the system is simply overloaded.

Bernadette left us inspired — here are a few takeaways we’ll be carrying forward.

The good news? Small shifts matter.

The pause matters.

Because in the space between what happens and what you do next…there is choice.

So this week:
• Pause before reacting.
• Breathe before responding.
• Move your body.
• Get thoughts out of your head and onto paper.
• Protect moments of recovery and rest.

And importantly - listen to your body. It often tells the truth long before the mind catches up. Tension, fatigue, irritability and overwhelm are often signs that your system needs support.

And if you decide to try yoga nidra or guided non sleep deep rest this week…perhaps set an alarm to bring yourself back to civilisation afterwards. We’d hate for your “16-minute nervous system reset” to accidentally become a two-hour nap on the lounge.

You’ve got one brain, and it’s incredibly powerful.

Support it. Work with it. Give it moments of recovery, movement, reflection and connection.

Not perfection.

Just a different, less "running up the down escalator with roller skates on" experience.

A special thank you to our community partner Everymind for sharing information at our event on the important work the organisation is doing in our Hunter Community.

For those who did not make it to our event - Everymind is an institute focused on the prevention of mental health concerns and suicide, based in Newcastle, and operating nationally.

For over 30 years, Everymind has worked with the media, workplaces, and families, friends and carers, to bridge the knowledge to practice gap in the prevention of mental health concerns and suicide so that fewer people are impacted in the future.
